AFCAT EXAMINATION 2023

The Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is a defense examination conducted by the Indian Air Force for the selection of Class 1 officers in flight and ground duties (technical and non-technical). The AFCAT exam takes place twice a year, in February and August/September. Their applications are available in June and December. Applicants can apply for all three branches of the IAF through AFCAT which are the Flight Branch, the Technical Branch and the Ground Services Branch. However, different branches have different eligibility requirements.

AFCAT Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit

(a) Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years as on 01 July 2023 i.e. born between 02 July 1999 to 01 July 2003 (both dates inclusive). Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable upto 26 years i.e. born between 02 July 1997 to 01 July 2003 (both dates inclusive). 

(b) Ground Duty (Technical/ Non-Technical) Branches. 20 to 26 years as on 01 July 2023 i.e. born between 02 July 1997 to 01 July 2003 both dates Inclusive)

 Educational Qualification:

Flying Branch:

It is compulsory to choose Mathematics and Physics at 12th Std. and obtain a minimum of 50% marks each in both and Undergraduate degree with a minimum of three years undergraduate degree in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or a 4 year BE/B .Tech with a minimum of 60% grades from a recognized university or Applicants who have passed Sections A and B examination for Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Indian Aeronautical Society with a minimum of 60% of grades from a recognized university.

Ground Duty (Technical Branch):

  1. Applicants who hold the AE (L) Aeronautical (Electronic) Engineer degree and who have obtained 50% marks each in Physics and Mathematics in their 12th STD. And have completed a minimum of four years of an Integrated Degree/Bachelor of Engineering/Technology from a recognized university.
  2. Sections A and B passed by actual study for Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India or Postgraduate Membership Examination of Institution of Electronic and Telecommunication Engineers with 60% in relevant disciplines notified by examination authority.
  3. Applicants who hold the AE(M) Aeronautical (Mechanical) Engineering degree and who have obtained 50% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at Level 10+2 and an integrated Bachelor/Postgraduate Engineering/Technology degree from a recognized university.
  4. Passed section A and B examination by actual study from Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Indian Aeronautical Society with minimum marks of 60% in relevant disciplines notified by IAF authority.

Ground Duty (Non-Technical Branch)

 

Administration and Logistics: Passed the 12th STD and have completed the undergraduate degree with a minimum of 3 years undergraduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university and have obtained a minimum of 60% grades.

 

Department of Education: Completed MBA/MCA or MA/MSc in

English/Physics/Mathematics/Chemistry/Statistics/International Studies/IT/Management/Journalism/Computer Science/Mass Communication with a minimum 50% marks in their degree.

Accounts: B.Com Graduate with minimum 60% marks.

AFCAT Salary (2022)

During the training period, the candidates will receive a salary of Rs. 56,100 with a 1-year stay in training. Upon successful completion of the training, payment will be made according to the following method:

AFCAT 2022 Physical Fitness Test:

  • Candidates should aim to achieve the ability to run 01 miles (1.6 km) in 10 minutes, do 10 push-ups and 03 pull-ups.

  • Prospective candidates are also advised to keep themselves in good physical condition to adapt to physical training at AFA which encompasses running, swimming, rope climbing and other forms of physical training/ conditioning in which they would undergo mandatory tests during training.
AFCAT 2023 Selection Process:
  • AFCAT written examination
  • Stage-I – Officer Intelligence Rating Test along with Picture Perception and discussion test
  • Stage-II – Psychological test, Group Tests and Interview would commence after document check for the next five days.
  • Medical Examination
  • An All India Merit List is compiled on the basis of your performance in the written test and AFSB interview, subject to being medically fit.
