Candidates selected on the basis of merit through this written test will be deployed for Joint Basic Phase Training (JBPT) at Basic Training Institute Belgaum (Karnataka) for a period of 12 weeks.Basic combat training is imparted to all candidates during basic training. Group Y - This is for the non technical tradesman and criteria for the selection is different and physical fitness level also different from group X. However a person who has cleared the 10+2 exam with pcm (Physics, chemistry and maths) fulfil the condition of group Y he can appear in the exam of group y. Group Y includes logistic management, Administration department, Account department and some others supporting branches for the operational requirement.

Indian Air Force Group X and Group Y Recruitment: Eligibility criteria
To get selected as an Airman, the candidate must be physically and mentally FIT to perform duties in any part of the world, climate and terrain. Physical/Medical Standards to become an Airman are as follows:

|Health||Candidates should be of normal anatomy without loss of any appendages. He should be free from all communicable diseases & skin ailments. Candidate must be physically and mentally FIT to perform duty in any part of the world, in any climate and terrain.|
|Body Tattoo||Permanent body tattoos are not permitted, however tattoos only on inner face of the fore arms(inside of elbow to the wrist), back(dorsal) part of the hand/reverse side of the palm and Tribals with tattoos which are as per custom Traditions of their tribes may be considered. However, right to decide on acceptability /unacceptability of the individual rests with the Selection Centre. Candidates with permanent body tattoos are to submit two photographs(close up and distinct view) with details of size and type of the Tattoo.|

A candidate clears all the stages of the selection procedure, then the upper age limit as on date of enrollment is 21 years. Means Maximum age limit for air force y group is 21 Year.
Indian Air Force Selection Procedure:
The selection will be done on the basis of:
Phase 1 (Online Test): Eligible applicants will be called for the online test
Phase 2 (Online Test): Selected candidates in the Phase 1 will be called for Phase 2 Exam
Physical Fitness Test (PFT): There will be 1.6 Km run to be completed within 06 minutes 30 seconds. Candidates shall also have to complete 10 Push-ups, 10 Sit-ups and 20 Squats within the stipulated time to qualify in the Physical Fitness Test.
Adaptability Test- 1: All candidates who pass the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) shall have to undertake Adaptability Test-I (objective type written test) which is to assess suitability of a candidate for employment in the IAF which involves deployment in varied geographic terrain, weather and operational conditions.
Adaptability Test- 2: All candidates who pass Adaptability Test - I shall have to undertake Adaptability Test- II as per policy in vogue. Adaptability Test- II is to select candidates who can adapt to the environment of Indian Air Force and are able to adjust to the military way of life.

Air Force Exam Pattern
The examination will be conducted online, and the duration will be 45 minutes for Group Y. For Group X, the total duration of the examination is 60 minutes. The questions will be of objective type and bilingual.

- Every wrong answer will have a 0.25 mark deduction.
- No marks will be deducted for unattempted questions.
